PAFEC VibroAcoustics - SONAR Bender Transducer Example

The flexural plate (bender) projector transducer: consists of two axially polarised ceramic plates (e.g. PZT4), two aluminium plates with an air gap in between. The entire structure is surrounded by an an acoustically neutral, flexible waterproof plastic (not required in FE/BE model). An alternating voltage is applied across the electrodes, causing the plates to vibrate, which radiates energy into the fluid.
